Let me start off by saying I love veggie burgers. They’re not for everyone, but I’m a huge fan. My favorites are the fresh ones made in-house by actual chefs, although I do microwave those frozen bad boys at home. Some restaurants have perfected the art of a veggie patty, while others are still struggling. Luckily, the Burger Bar at Mandalay Place makes an excellent burger, enhanced by their wide array of toppings and beer selection.
Now, when I say they make an excellent veggie burger, I don’t just mean for Las Vegas. (The veggie burger options here can leave a bit to be desired.) I mean this is one of the best veggie burgers I have ever had, anywhere. They make the patty fresh with an “intriguing combination of whole grains, brown rice, onions, soy, cheese, mushroom, garlic and special spices,” at least according to their menu. Whatever it was, it was good. It was no match for the whole what bun however and I had to eat it with a fork; but this may or may not have had anything to do with the fact that I piled it high with cheese, avocado, peppers and ketchup.
You could do some fancy math and figure out how many different veggie burger combinations you could make with the over 30 vegetarian toppings on the menu, but I’ll stick with a safe bet and say it’s a lot. With dessert burgers and several kinds of fries sized to share, you better come hungry. The drink list is great here; I loved the summer sangria and the beer snob hubby was quite impressed with their brew list. Technically located in Mandala Place, make sure you take the time to find the Burger Bar as it’s sure to be a hit with herbivores and omnivores alike.
