Tucked away off the casino floor, Canter’s Deli at Treasure Island isn’t exactly destination dining. And at first glance it’s not much of a vegetarian mecca, either. But it’s a great place to grab quick and greasy food. I was resigned to a side of fries when I first ventured up to the counter, only to spot a veggie burger on the menu.
I didn’t expect much, so I was pleasantly surprised by both the size and taste of Canter’s veggie burger. It’s huge. And delicious. A win-win if I ever found one! I was expecting a sad looking, deflated Boca burger but what I got was a grilled fresh Garden Burger, complete with a side of fries. (Seeing as it’s Vegas, fries come with the meal but not a drink, since they assume you want an adult beverage. Which they also sell.)
$13 for a veggie burger and fries? That’s cheap by Vegas standards, particularly when it tastes this good. Granted, they don’t have much else for vegetarians, but Canter’s is a great find for a quick bite. They’re open 11 a.m ’til midnight, which isn’t exactly late-night in Las Vegas, but is early enough for a much-needed snack the next morning. Fine dining it’s not, but it’s great to know it’s here. Get in, get out, and get back to your vacation.
