One of the (many) things that I love about Las Vegas restaurants is that they deliver on every. Single. Thing. That means a veggie burger is almost always made in-house, from scratch, with their own recipe and spice blend. Which is great, because let’s face it, those puppies can get pretty bland. But to bring out the flavor and keep the patty from turning into mush, a lot of restaurants use cheese or eggs to bind the ingredients. Taste great, but not so helpful for vegan Vegas visitors.
Holsteins at The Cosmopolitan has perfected a vegan burger that tastes great and is completely dairy-free. (I’m assuming this means the bun too but you might want to double-check.) Of course, if you like a little lactose you can add cheese to the already overflowing bun piled high with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, sprouts and avocado. The avocado really takes it over the top, in my opinion, and is now my favorite burger topping.
The Urth Burger, as they call it, is very soft and a bit hard to keep in the bun but the flavor is great. The sprouts and cucumber add texture and crunch to the patty, while the selection of beers and spiked milkshakes help to wash it all down. There’s a really fun atmosphere at Holsteins whether you visit for lunch or dinner, and it’s great to see a vegan burger on a menu right next to some inventive meat options as well.
