Yard House at Town Square

If you’re looking to escape the ringing of the slot machines for a few hours without wandering all the way into the desert, Town Square is a fun, family-friendly spot that’s just a cab ride away from The Strip. It has plenty of shopping, and it’s also conveniently located across the street from the Outlet Mall. Need more convincing? A cab will cost you less than $20 from most Vegas casinos and there are more vegetarian options at the Yard House in Town Square then you’d be able to eat in a day.

While not exactly a happening hot spot, Town Square is a relaxed and fun place to wander around for an afternoon. There are all the big name stores you’re used to, but also some unique boutiques. Several restaurants ensure you won’t skip lunch, but Yard House is my favorite. They have a whole Gardein section on their menu, with sandwiches, salads, pastas and more, all made with this 100% vegan meat substitute. It’s all natural, full of protein and whole grains, and completely delicious. I can’t get enough of the spicy (fake) chicken sandwich, but I did manage to order the barbeque chicken pizza once. Both are amazing.

There are plenty of salads and appetizers that don’t include Gardein and are naturally vegetarian or vegan, and they are more than willing to listen and substitute for any allergy or dietary preference. (I’ve put them to the test, trust me.) Their beer list isn’t bad, and it’s not the same mass-market stuff you’ll find in most bars. I’d suggest trying one of the samplers so you get a good selection. And if you get anything besides my favorite spicy chicken sandwhich, let me know! I need to try something new.
